Subject Matter’s Audience Screening Fund provides microgrants of up to $1,000 to help community members license and host local screenings of our supported films.


Guidelines:

  • Screening events must be in-person and free to attend.

  • Screenings must have the intention to gather 20 or more people to view a film.

  • Hosts must provide accommodations for guests with accessibility needs.

  • Hosts must follow the rules of the licensing agreement secured for the Subject Matter-supported film that they will be screening. 

  • Hosts must share information with guests about the corresponding nonprofit grantee connected to the film that they are screening. Information will be provided by Subject Matter. 

  • Hosts must complete a post-event survey following the event, including photos from the event and attendance numbers.

How to Apply

Subject Matter encourages a variety of partners to apply to host a screening, including individuals, nonprofit organizations, educators, libraries, community centers, and more. Microgrants are awarded on a rolling basis. Please complete the Screening Host application here.
